According to legend, an Ethiopian goathered discovered coffee. Coffee was a simple food and beverage for African tribesmen. Now, it became a popular worldwide drink, as one of the top value in trade. All exporting countries depend on coffee as the main income. Many people depend on it for their living and drink a lot. In 1975, a frost killed Brazil. It nearly damaged half of a country coffee trees and changed the prices. Frost happened again in 1979. Every tree lost of no income for three to five years. This is huge, considering 15 million trees lost. Brazil had to stop exporting coffee. Importers bought it in bulk afraid of the shortage. Coffee was in abundant and the prices fell. Prices increased and farmers began substituting coffee for other crops. Producers and consumers agree to limit production to what the market can absorb, have a reserve and sell at an agreeable price.
