Reflections on Growth Camp

Growth camp is a very unique camp practice by Chong Boon Secondary School. It also teaches us a lot of things including the school values. Before the camp, we were be informed that we will be group together with some of the Secondary 4. I felt so aggressive at that time when I was being informed. I thought that why could not we be with our own classmates. A lot of things also went into my mind. I thought that will it be better than last year camp, who our trainer will be and who will we be group with?

On the first day, we were told to be with our group and we went into our respective classrooms to meet our group members. At there, we introduced to one another to know each other more including the trainers. After that, we went to the hall for a briefing and had our lunch in the canteen after that. We went to the outside of the library for preparation of cheer in the campfire the next day. Next, we went back to the hall for a program of Profiling Workshop that we had to make use of a lot of straws to wrap up the egg and not let it break when it drop. We also had to do a flag painting that had to be used in Sentosa the next day. We went for tea break after that. We went back to the hall after that for a program of Leadership Styles that let us know what type of person we are and to the AVA Room for a program of Testimonies and Managing Studies Effectively that teaches us to set goals. We went to the parade square after that for a program of Leadership Styles and Outdoor Games. We went for dinner and follow by night walk, debrief after that.

The next day, we went to Sentosa for for Amazing Race which I think is a very interesting and meaningful activity as we had applied what we have learn the day before on it in order to win the game. It also had teaches us the importance of team spirit, determination and respect to the others throughout the whole activity. At night, we had campfire in the school field and there were a lot of performance and cheers by every team whereas some of them had sing song which go out of tune. The next day, we had a cheer competition. We also had our area cleaning follow by survey and reflections and prize presentation after that. We had also sang our school song and a talk given by Mr Wong before we were dismissed.

Throughout this marvelous camp, I felt that it was far, far more better as compared to last year. It was also a very meaningful and interesting camp. The group people were also not as terrible as I imagine and they were quite okay and friendly. This camp had also let know more of a lot of new friends and let me learn a lot of important and useful values. I think that this is a wonderful camp and I wish that there would be another camp next year.
